Bollywood stereotypes...

Bollywood produces highest number of films in the world annually. We cannot boast of technical sophistication or sometimes a decent script in our movies but there are certain elements in our movies which have been there since the advent of cinema and its impact on Indian audiences mind.
Here are some of the stereotypes that we see in almost every Bollywood movie and have accepted it as it is-

Sex during lent

“Christians don’t have sex during lent” one of my friends told me as preached by their priest in youth seminar.

I am a roman catholic and my friend belongs to a different sect and calls himself Christian.

I questioned him “how can a priest know whether one had sex or no?”.

And his reply “but Jesus can know”. Seriously Jesus - he never had sex in his 33 years of human existence .

Jesus is a Muslim?

I was born as a Catholic and have many Muslim friends as colleagues. Out of the many topics we share once I asked them about their views about Catholics. That is the time when I knew about Jesus' role in Islam .

Cutlet -feast before lent

It is almost a ritual in my household to have a non veg dish as we near lent . For Christians -lent is a huge season to show your faith in God and Jesus as Easter is the biggest festival for them. My parents observe fast for days from Ash- Wednesday to Easter as they consider it  holy period and have only vegetable food.
